Well....Thanksgiving's officially over and I only have one more class until I can relax for the weekend.
Clinton and I ran around in the kitchen making the last bits of things and cleaning yesterday morning for about 4 hours, than headed off to school. Our house was spotless and I had a list ready of things I needed to get on right after school. Clinton wasn't going to be home until after 9, so the kickoff of our party was left up to me. I had an open class with parents coming to school as well, so I donned a lovely skirt and just kept wishing that my 4 classes could be over already. After my last class I rushed home with Rufina, a teacher, and we bussled about heating things up and putting everything out. Soon after Nadiya came and I set them to work making turkey sandwiches. People started rolling in little by little and we soon had a packed house, literally. There was food everywhere, shoes pilled to the brim in the entranceway, and people sitting everywhere. I was worried about not having enough to drink and of course, a bunch of my students and others brought wine. Than in walked Joe, with a CASE of Bud. Hehehe...leave it to Joe. The funnier thing was when one of Clinton's old adult students walked in with another case of korean beer, as well as a bunch of korean teachers each with beer. Others brought fruit of all sorts, and we had MORE THAN ENOUGH food for everyone. So much for us worrying about things running out. Both our fridges are still stocked this morning (and probably will be for a while), after I put stuff away. We'll be eating for days and days. Everything was amazing though, including the pumpkin pies that Sarah and Nadiya made and brought. People sat around, ate, drank and talked and it was all good fun, other than being a little crowded. We had planned on having our porch as overflow for people too, but we got a bunch of student party crashers that took that area over jumping on our extra bed that's there. I think folks had fun. I liked it, once everything was ready and I could calm down and just hang out. Some other western teachers from other schools also came, and they stayed longer after all the koreans took off. By then all the wine was gone and we were just left with bud. I think we nearly pollished off a case, leaving some of us tired and not quite 100% today. Overalll, it was a pretty good night. I don't think we'll do it again any time soon, but it was worth it for a night. My guess it we had somewhere around 30 or so there with an extra 7 or 8 kids scampering about for a few hours. Whew....our place is hardly big enough for that many people, but it was fun for the night....
